and Presentation

24 - 27 April, 2012 | Amsterdam| The Netherlands

About the Workshop

This EMBO Workshop (7th APP) will bring together leading researchers investigating the processes controlling MHC class I,
MHC class II and CD1 antigen presentation.

This covers many fields including protein and peptide degradation, peptide transfer, intracellular transport, ubiquitination, pathogen control and immune responses to pathogens, transplants and auto-immune diseases. The workshop aims at integrating these fields to further understanding of one of the critical processes in the immune system: antigen presentation by MHC molecules.

TOPICS AND DISCUSSIONS

New concept and general discussions of antigen presentation by class I MHC molecules

Modulation of antigen presentation

Special cases of Antigen Presentation:

Transplantation and microbial antigens

Autoimmunity and Cancer

Neoantigens, tissue APCs

Antigen processing and presentation of antigens by MHC class I

Cross-presentation and antigen transfer

Poster sessions

The basic process of antigen presentation by MHC class I and II molecules has been resolved over the years by many groups. Many new discoveries first presented at the APP meeting have been published in leading journals in later years and we expect that many new findings will be presented at the upcoming meeting. The knowledge generated in these studies has also translated into clinical applications such as immunotherapy of cancer, immunological monitoring (MHC tetramers) and immunomodulation of autoimmune diseases. We plan in this workshop new sessions in the areas of cancer immunotherapy, vaccination, transplantation immunology and auto-immunity to illustrate the translation of fundamental findings into clinical practice.

This workshop is limited to around 120 participants. These include the leading scientists in this field but will also include young scientists already contributing to research in this field and expected to make future contributions.

We look forward to seeing you in Amsterdam!
