ABOUT THE CONFERENCE
The conference is a continuation of the EMBO conference series on the theme Enzyme Mechanisms, of which the previous was held in 2010 in Hamburg, Germany.
The goal of the conference is to provide an overview on recent developments and future perspectives on the research on the chemistry and biology of enzyme function. Emphasis will be given to new computational and engineering approaches in enzyme (re)design. The conference also aims at reaching out to the application directed research community.
Recent developments of in vitro, in vivo and in silico research on enzyme reaction mechanisms are continuously advancing our insight of the chemistry and biochemistry of catalytic mechanisms by biological systems.
The structural and dynamical properties of enzymes are of key importance in this respect. At this conference advanced methodological approaches and new insights into enzyme functioning will be covered. New emerging approaches for the redesign and design of enzymes or artificial biocatalysts will be discussed.
This conference will focus
on the following topics:
- Structural enzymology
- Enzyme mechanism
- New enzymes
- Artificial biocatalysts
- Enzyme design
- Enzyme evolution
- New enzyme engineering methods
- Enzyme-based applications
The conference is aimed at bringing together experts working at the interface of this multidisciplinary research field to facilitate stimulating discussions on this fascinating topic, which is also of key importance for the development of biotech related applications.
The multidisciplinary program will provide an ideal framework for getting to know the experts as well as the latest developments
in this research field.
Programme: The conference offers an exciting programme with a distinguished list of invited speakers from a variety of areas related to molecula renzymology (see ‘programme’). There will be approximately 22 invited expert speakers. The programme will also include presentations from young pre and post-doctoral researchers, selected from posters abstracts.
Participation: Participants are encouraged to bring posters, which will be on display during the whole length of the meeting. Selected poster topics can be selected for oral presentations, based on the poster abstracts. The number of participants is limited to 150. It is our aim to foster existing and encourage new collaborations in this broad field of enzymology, as well as to transfer the available knowledge and expertise to the new generation of scientists.
