ABOUT THE CONFERENCE
This EMBO Conference focusing on cancer biology and therapy follows the successful series of three EMBO Conferences on cellular signalling and molecular medicine.
The processes involved in cancer initiation and progression are highly complex, and a detailed knowledge of the involved mechanisms at molecular, cellular and organismal level is needed to improve both diagnostic tools and patient treatment. Genomic and post-genomic/proteomic technologies have not only delivered a wealth of information about the complex networks underlying carcinogenesis, but at the same time broke the ground for new strategies in developing modern anti-cancer treatments. This EMBO Conference brings together leading experts from different scientific disciplines to discuss new findings and future challenges in cancer research.
Opening of registration: 1st November 2013
Deadline for early bird registration/abstract submission/travel grant submission: 1st March 2014 (only abstracts received by 1st March can be considered for oral presentations)
Notification for acceptance of abstracts/selection for oral presentations: 15th March 2014 (only abstracts received by 15th March can be included in the conference book)
Deadline for reservation of hotel accommodation: 15th April 2014
Deadline for sending travel schedule to secure courtesy transportation: 1st May 2014
The programme will focus on the following topics:
- molecular cancer therapeutics
- oncogenic signalling networks
- cancer metastasis
- cell metabolism and cancer development
- role of inflammation in cancer progression
- involvement of cell death and autophagy pathways in cancer pathogenesis
- molecularly-targeted therapies
A key goal of this EMBO Conference is to promote the education of young scientists and catalyze constructive scientific interactions among participants via lectures, poster presentations, selected talks and informal discussions. In addition to the invited speakers, there will be selected presentations from younger scientists and active poster sessions. Two poster prizes (€250 each) are funded by the European Association for Cancer Research to award outstanding contributions to the sessions. Two further poster prizes are funded by EMBO Journal and EMBO reports, both comprise of vouchers of €200 each, to be redeemed at any EMBO Workshop, Conference or Practical Course.
We look forward to welcoming you
