The multidisciplinary era of endocytic mechanics and functions

27 September – 2 October 2015 | Mandelieu-la-Napoule, France

About the conference

The study of endocytosis increasingly profits from conceptual input provided by the physics community, enabling tools from chemical biologists, and novel instrumentation. Unprecedented insights have been gained in cells and whole organisms on mechanisms by which sites of vesicle formation are built in the endocytic pathway, transport carriers are detached, and subsequently propelled through the cytoplasm for fusion with acceptor compartments. Notably also the interplay of proteins and lipids has become a reemerging focus of interest. These spectacular advances have created new tools and concepts to dissect major endocytic contributions in a wide array of cellular and organ functions ranging from pathogen entry and cellular signaling to tissue morphogenesis, animal development, and cancer.

List of topics:

  • Endosomal sorting
  • Endocytic processes in development
  • Mechanisms of endocytosis
  • Chemical biology of endocytosis
  • Physiology of endocytic processes
  • Host-pathogen interactions in endocytosis
  • Instrumentation and physics
