Cell size regulation

14 – 18 September 2016 | Joachimsthal, Germany

About the workshop

Cell size homeostasis is one of the most fundamental aspects of biology, with distinct size ranges for individual cell types. The EMBO Workshop will bring together groups working on size regulation in unicellular and multicellular organisms, ranging from bacterial cells a few microns in length to neurons that may extend over a meter in large mammals. We hope that bringing together groups from multiple disciplines and approaches will create a stimulating event that will become a central venue for the cell size field.

Topics will include:

  • Size in the subcellular milieu
  • Cell size regulation in bacteria
  • Cell size regulation in yeast
  • Cell size regulation in higher eukaryotes
  • Sensing and signaling cell size
  • Neuronal size and growth control
  • Tissue and organ size regulation
