About the conference
This EMBO Conference focusing on Cellular signalling and Cancer therapy follows the successful series of EMBO Conferences on Cellular signalling and Molecular medicine. The aim of this edition is to share new insights in our understanding of cancer and discuss how these insights provide new strategies for the development and improvement of diagnostic tools and cancer treatment. Recent technological developments, for instance in the field of genomics and proteomics have delivered a wealth of information showing the complexity of the processes involved in cancer biology and the huge genetic variance between tumors, even within the same organ of the same patient. These insights are also illustrative of the challenges ahead with respect to the development of novel anti-cancer treatments. The main topics of the 2016 conference are on Molecular Mechanisms in signalling and Metabolism, Resistance pathways, Cancer Models (organoids, intravital microscopy), Adhesion, Polarity and Metastasis. This EMBO Conference brings together leading experts from different scientific disciplines to discuss new findings and future challenges in cancer research.
