About the meeting
The European Molecular Biology Organisation (EMBO) founded in 1964 is a unique network of life scientists from 30 European countries and several non-European states. EMBO has long-established links with Singapore – Professor Sydney Brenner, Nobel Laureate and a founding member of EMBO, has pioneered the development of life sciences research in the city state and other EMBO Members, including Sir David Lane, Sir George Rada and Prof Philippe Kourilsky, have played leading roles in building the Biopolis research ecosystem. This relationship has been strengthened over the years through a series of meetings and initiatives: The first ever meeting of EMBO Gold Medallists was held in Singapore in 2009, with a second meeting in 2015. Singapore-based early career researchers have been elected to the EMBO Young Investigator Programme (YIP) since 2013 and in 2016 Singapore was admitted as an EMBO Associate Member State.
The 2019 meeting continues this proud tradition of engagement and partnership with our European colleagues: This year we are delighted to welcome not only four EMBO Gold Medal Winners to Singapore but will also host the annual meeting of EMBO Young Investigators. Together they will present an eclectic mix of the very best research in the molecular life sciences, providing a unique window into European science for our PhD students, post-doctoral fellows and group leaders and a perfect opportunity to renew old acquaintance and seek out new interactions with European life scientists.
The meeting is free to attend, but registration is required.
