About the workshop

Please register and submit your abstract via this website.

This workshop brings together scientists from a broad range of discplines who are interested in exploring and applying the basic physical principles that underlie the behavior of living cells. This extends from the protein scale up to the tissue level with input from the physical and the biological sciences. We hope to stimulate exchange of ideas between theoreticians and experimentalists, and between physicists, chemists and biologists. Participation of young and emerging scientists is highly encouraged and several slots are reserved for contributed lectures.

Topics include:

  • Reconstituted systems
  • Lipid membranes
  • Active cytoskeleton networks
  • Phase transitions in cells
  • Mechanics of the nucleus and chromatin
  • Cell adhesion and migration
  • Cell mechanics
  • Physics of Cancer
  • Tissues and development
  •

Students and postdocs not giving a talk are expected to participate through poster presentation.

Please apply early, as this meeting may become oversubscribed before the deadline.

The meeting is held in conjuction with an advanced school preceding the conference for graduate and postdoctoral students. Registration for the school can be made using this link.

    ABOUT THE AREA

Forming part of the Great African Rift Valley between the Judean hills and the Moab Mountains, at 400 meters below sea level, the Dead Sea is the lowest point on earth. This desert area is well known for its therapeutic qualities and enjoys sunny weather throughout the year. There are many sites of historical and natural interest in the area such as the ancient Fortress of Massada and the Qumran National Park, where the famous Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered. This stunning and peaceful desert oasis provides a perfect location for our Workshop.
